I'm not making this stuff up...

I love to read comments from friends about how I come up with such random stuff and fun things to read. I really do try to keep things fun and enjoyable for anyone out there who might pop into my corner of the World Wide Web even if only for a moment. I respect your time and know everyone needs a smile during their day.

But today I had the intent of doing something more about me and a little "getting to know me better" type of deal, but then I ran across this. Normally, I might have just taken this in and used it later so I could continue as planned, but it's too absolutely crazy, stupid and funny all at the same time I could help but post it.

Are you ready for the next and latest in extreme sports? I mean the crazy stunts that people will do for a thrill? Yeah, it's not what you're hoping for. The latest craze... is... Extreme (sounds good so far).... Ironing.

Yes, you read that right and, no, there isn't a special hidden meaning in ironing. It's ironing - like with an old fashion iron and an article of clothing that needs to be pressed. Again, I am ***NOT*** making this one up, guys.

According to the Web site www.extremeironing.com, The sport that is 'extreme ironing' is an outdoor activity that combines the danger and excitement of an 'extreme' sport with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt. It involves taking an iron and board (if possible) to remote locations and ironing a few items of laundry. This can involve ironing on a mountainside, preferably on a difficult climb, or taking an iron skiing, snowboarding or canoeing.

It all started in the city of Leicester in the UK, in the summer of 1997. When mild mannered Steam, returned home after a long day in the knitwear factory, the last thing he wanted to do was start on a pile of ironing. The sun was shining and Phil preferred the idea of an evening out pursuing his (somewhat unsuccessful) hobby of rock climbing. Then it occurred to him to combine these activities into an extreme sport - the result: extreme ironing. From there it was taken all over the country and when the web site was launched extreme ironing, also called EI, was taken up all over the world.

Need proof how stupid people can be? Here are a few photos of this stupid and odd "sport":
