What's going on?

Well, I can't say that too terribly much is happening at this moment. I had a nice weekend this past weekend of not doing much and catching some quality time with my sweetheart when he wasn't on call up at the hospital. The whole concept of him working overnights up at the hospital is pretty new to us, and while I'm not happy he's gone, I'm happy he's learning and daily coming closer to his goal of practicing medicine.

Work's not exactly slow for me, but the nightmare of October is almost over and we're moving more into a spaced out hectic schedule rather than a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am frenzy of the past couple of months.

With that being said, you should be seeing a few modifications to my blog. Blogger is getting better with some new added features and widgets, so that ought to make blogging, and reading my blog, more fun for all of us. Also, be sure to check out below the modified slideshow pics from a couple weekends ago. I made it into an actual slide show instead of you having to click through it. You can thank me later.

I'm hoping on keeping this more updated than once a week, but will make no promises as my life isn't at a turtle's pace or even close to it. I'm not just breezing through my days eating chocolates (not that I even would if I could - however, ice cream's another story) or being a couch potato.

But what's going on now? Well, the sweetheart's still in the middle of his internal medicine rotation. That involves lots of examinations you would never want to give or receive and mounds of paperwork. Plus, lots of climbing stairs throughout the hospital following around higher-ups while they do their thing. Yea.

Me? I'm working and counting down the months until we move on to our next step in the whole life-living-process. I'm really beginning to get tired of my day-in-day-out job requirements and dealing with the same stuff over and over. I still like my job overall, it's just lost the luster of newness and excitement it once held. I guess I'm wanting a new challenge. Can't blame a girl for wanting something a little more exciting and new, right?

In the meantime, I've enjoyed seeing some old friends this month and doing sightseeing around the country some. I love traveling. There's nothing like packing a bag and going somewhere new or unexplored. Like D.C. - I've been there countless times, but there's still always something I haven't done there before. Plus, it's nice getting to see old favorites over and over.

So what travels are in store for us over the next couple of months? Well, Thanksgiving and my birthday will be spent here. We'll definitely miss the annual visit from Kate-The-Great and her hubby, but understand with the big changes (a move across the globe!) in store for them, it's not do-able at this time. Christmas will see us back in Texas for a few days - spreading our love across the Lone Star State with family and friends. Then on into 2008, I'm hoping for some good skiing in February at Wintergreen and possibly Snowshoe, WV. :::Fingers crossed:::

SO, that's all I've got for now. Just wanted to post a catch-up for those who've actually missed hearing from me.

Blog tidbits

Stole these excerpts from Mental_Floss:

So apparently if you Google the phrase "the average blogger," here’s a few things that come up:

  • According to Google, "the average blog is read by one person."

  • "The average blogger is a 14-year-old girl writing about her cat," said Alexander Halavais, an assistant professor of interactive communications at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

  • The average blogger "makes about $20 to $50 a month for their efforts," mostly funded by click-through advertising like Google AdSense.

  • The average blog "has the lifespan of a fruitfly … with 60% to 80% abandoned within one month." Of those that survive, "66% have not been updated in two months."

So, once again, it looks like I'm above average - in age, readers and lifespan. That's always a plus, I guess.

And while I may blog about the cat from time to time, I usually speak of the dogs.

And as far as not being updated - I've never made you wait two months for an update. Now that sister of mine is a different story...

However, I'm not making one cent off my blog. So I was thinking of starting a donation link should you want to contribute to the fund. Anyone?

Shame on Blogger

For those wondering, Blogger is the tool I use for writing and posting my blog. Generally it's alright, but it has its quirks.

Like the hated word verification. Most my loyal readers remember my first post on this topic last August.

But now I'm at a new level of dumbfoundedness. Not only is this one not a word, but it's a very tacky version of a non-word.

I mean, come on Blogger! There's got to be a screening process or something. Random letters mixed in the wrong order can still be tacky.

I'm crying...

Just so you know, if it wasn't for mom, I would feel greatly unloved.

Thank goodness for mothers. Not a single person besides mom took the challenge of guessing where my Christmas picture was taken. (My sweetheart doesn't count - he was in the picture...)

Anyway, I'm now so sad... and that makes me not want to tell you. Too bad 99.3% of people reading this will know within a week as the cards are already mailed.

Come on guys, this is a two-way street... responses and comments are VERY welcomed and encouraged. Feedback guys... it's nice.

A work in progress

So I've switched over to Blogger Beta.

Not that you'll see that big of a difference on my blog here, but there are a few subtle changes.

One change you should see will be that from here on out all my posts will be labeled for easy searching. Want to know what we've been up to recently? Click on the label over to the right of the screen (above the archives) that says "What's going on with us." That will show you the posts I've made that I've classified as "What's going on with us."

There's a place for the pets, random musings by me, personal thoughts, funnies, etc. Some posts are doubled up with multiple labels, but most will have just one.

Again, it's a work in progress, but it's my small attempt at making my blog a little more organized and user friendly.

And as always, feedback is greatly appreciated. ;)

Did you find me?

To my loyal readers, I apologize for the confusion and hope you've found me once again. I apologize for the name change, but it just isn't terribly smart for my full name to be out there floating around for anyone to see and grab and abuse. It was the name Blogger gave me, but I just now realized it could be changed - so I did. That way I'm less likely to have someone steal my name and/or identity.

Afterall, there can only be one me. Another me would definitely throw a wrench in things for me and the poor Hubby doesn't want to have two of me to love adoringly.

So, thanks for coming and finding me and hopefully you'll bookmark me right now if you haven't already. I know you'll want to be coming back over and over and over and over.

I mean, come on, I am just THAT good. Right? (This is where you, the reader, click on the link below to leave me comments and feedback on how wonderful I am. Shameless, sure - but I LOVE the feedback. Makes me feel all warn and fuzzy inside.)

Happy Blog-day to me!

Well, the day has come.

Today's post is my 100th entry into this adventure known as Marcum Memoirs.

Over the past 100 posts we've looked into eBay, fishing, poetry, lyrics, shared a few funnies and even shed a tear or two. We've discussed a little about what I like, what I don't and how my furry children are a wonderful, yet noisy. What a fun eccletic mix! You just never know what to expect next!

So in celebration of 100. Let's look at a few "hundred" fun things...

Okay, so there aren't 100 photos here, but it's not letting me upload any more fun photos I had in waiting. (Grrrr to Blogger.) Oh well.

So ... Happy 100 and Happy Friday everyone!

A Bone to pick...

What is it with the whole "Word Verification?"

I get we need to screen comments and I like the idea of making sure they are real comments...

But how can Blogger call it WORD verification when in fact, it is not a word.

This is not a real word. Neither is ...

This one's not even clearly readable...

I mean unless I'm reading that wrong or there's an alternative English I'm not getting... these should not be call WORD verification.

Call them letter jumbles or wannabe word verifications or even made-up-crap word verification or my-cat-sat-on-the-keyboard-once-again-and-came-up-with-this verifications.

But they AREN'T WORDS!!!

And that's all I got to say about that...
