Duck, duck... DUCK?!?

What now seems like forever ago, yet was only the last weekend of April, we took a much needed R&R weekend down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the big town of Duck. We had a great time just puttering around, doing some shopping, eating some great grub and lounging on the beach on a pretty day.

Below are some of the pics we took...

First are some of the ocean views from our room...

Here's the part of the resort we stayed in...

Sunday morning wasn't as pretty...

Fountains outside our building...

Here's us out to dinner and seeing some sites Saturday evening...

And that's about all for OBX pics for now...

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

Fresh from my whirlwind trip of 24 hours in Texas, I am wrapping up a peaceful week of work without a boss. It's so nice not to be micro-managed and argued with at every little turn. :::Ahhhhh:::

Anyway, that's not the point of today's post. I just wanted to share some pics and tell you how proud Mr. Rogers would be to see our little house in our neighborhood all blooming with signs of spring. It truly is beautiful thanks to the hard work of one wonderful husband and despite the efforts of both the dogs to trample - not just ours - but every flowerbed in a three home radius.

This is of one of our three Azalea bushes. I love it when they're in bloom.

This is the front bed - a mix of tulips, pansies and some other little red things I can't remember the name of. The hubby will know.

Another Azalea with more tulips, some mums (not in bloom), day lilies (not blooming either) and those red things again.

Our newest flowerbed, complete with red tulips, pansies and a metal fixture on which we are trying to get ivy growing up. This bed was basically placed here to cover the dog landing spot from the front door as they lept to go chase the nearest squirrel or bird. The space to the right of it now isn't growing anything since they now land there.

And while this is no flower, Mr. Rogers would still be proud of a lamb made of butter. No, I didn't make it - it was a gift along with some raisin bread (I hate raisins). I thought it cute enough to warrant a photo.

Happy spring!

Photos as promised

Photos from the trip as promised. Great fun was had by all - skiing, tubing, and playing in the snow.

I'm glad to report no broken bones or severe injuries. Just sore muscles and maybe even a little busted pride with some falls.

Yes, I'm a nerd

I recognize the fact I'm nerdy and I'm okay with it. But I just had to take the girls to see Santa. And by the way, Baylee wants a toy squirrel and Jackie wants a toy mailman for Christmas.

Laugh already

Been a long week on my end. I think it's just this time of year and the huge amount of pressure we put on ourselves for the holidays.

So I needed a laugh today. thought you might could use one too...

Enjoy some funny photos.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Here's a few shots from our house of our Christmas decor...

How to pass time at a football game

Went to the William & Mary football game last Saturday evening. We didn't stay long as we kept getting bumped out of the seats we were occupying (apparently general admission tickets are only good for the bad end zone seats that are occupied by cranky men in oversized stadium chairs that occupy far more than the allowed space - including the two rows behind them). Plus, W&M was already losing something like 28-7 before the close of the first quarter.

However, if you ignored your surroundings and looked only at the uniforms, the green and gold almost make us think we were back at a Baylor Game. But then once you looked around and saw the stadium (which is smaller than some high school stadiums I've been to in Texas...), you would know it's not good old Floyd Casey.

But to help pass the time while W&M lost (that's another Baylor similarity there...) we snapped some pics of ourselves.

This one is alright...

In this one, someone's looking drunk...

And in this one, someone's looking goofy...

And this one I actually liked...

Finally. And shortly after these we got bumped from the seats we'd taken and so we left and went to Starbucks. Starbucks is way better than freezing one's tail off at a losing football game anyway.

Two bits, four bits, six bits a dollar - all for yummy coffee stand up and holler!

Best Girls weekend yet...

So this past weekend was my first (of many!) offical Baylor Chicks Weekend in D.C. My friends Sarah and Kim flew up to D.C. to meet me and we had a wonderful time sightseeing around the Nation's Capitol.

Check out the pics!

Too much fun...

Again, note the sarcasm in that title... It's been a LONG week and I know I haven't posted. But truthfully, besides work, I don't have much to report on.

However, I'm super excited I get to go see some old friend this weekend for a wedding up in Ohio. And then the next weekend I'm taking a 4-day run in D.C. with some girlfriends from college.

Both of these trips are well earned and I'm looking forward to not being at work. Sure, I'm going to miss my sweetheart and furry children, but this girl's got to get away from all this insanity.

And with the joy and laughs I'm looking forward too these coming weekends, I share some fun critter pictures I've found over the past couple of weeks...

All in the family

So, dad and my Aunt Ellen (aka Auntie) came out to see us for a whirlwind visit and while they were here we all check out some of the local hot spots - including my company's fancy shin-dig gala. Oh la la.

Anyway, here are just a few pics from our adventures out to Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg.

Mom will be delighted to see us making the historic rounds and we really did have a great time. Of course the visit was too short, but the holidays are fast approaching and we'll be seeing family again soon.

Returning to the great outdoors

Went camping over the past weekend out near Natural Bridge, Virginia.

It's nice to be able to get away from time to time and get back into nature. Did a little hiking, fishing and marshmallow roasting. It was Baylee's first time to sleep in the great outdoors and we even did some scenic sightseeing along the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way home.

Yea for getting out of town and having a great time camping!
