Bringing in 2007

So, let's get 2007 started with some catching up. We're still out on the road, so the adventure's not quite over yet, but we're now just two states away from home. Which, if you think about it - Texas is really only two states away from Virginia too... only Arkansas and Tennessee stand in between. Anyway, we're holed up for the night in Anderson, South Carolina. We ought to get into Virginia Beach tomorrow at a decent time.

But, that's not what you care about. You want the pictures and me to let you know what we've been up to.

Well, after leaving the Hinckley crew up in the DFW area, we headed south to Waco for a brief layover to see Baylor and the latest developments on campus. Of course Baylee had never visited her name sake, so it was a bonus getting to see her romp all over campus after squirrels.

Here are just a couple of pics...

And then we went on to Giddings to see my sweetie's grandmother (We also saw his other Grandmother in Tennessee on the way out to Texas.) and on to Comfort to spend time with the fam. Believe it or not, but I didn't get one single picture while there. I'm falling down on the job!

While there, we couldn't go fishing thanks to high winds, but still had a great visit. We also got to see some good friends before leaving town too!

And on we went to Louisiana. And where else to spend New Year's Eve than in New Orleans?!? Our night was pretty subdued while waiting until almost midnight for our pizza to get there, but we did see the ball drop and rang in the New Year for both Eastern and Central time zones.

Then, to start 2007 off right, we had the wonderful Cafe au Lait and Beignets at Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. C'est magnifique! I love that place! It was nice to see a lively French Quarter, but was heartbreaking to see the loads of devastation as we drove out of town. The city's got a long ways to go, and it's hard to see all the debris around in huge piles - entire streets piled up. We didn't even see the worst parts, I know. But if it's anything, New Orleans is resilient.

Here's some pics of today... the first is of classic French Quarter architecture which I love and then there's Jackson Square and the last is us waiting for our beignets and coffee... YUM!
