The Yellow Piece of Junk
In honor of Disney's new release, CARS, (which we went to see last night... very good. Go see it.) today's post is about my very first car.
She was a good car - got me through half of high school and all four years of college. She had her rough times and her good times. She had a complete front end replaced and bits and pieces along the way.
She was HOT - literally. No A/C for most the time I owned her despite repeated efforts to fix it. And in Texas August heat - you've got to know it's miserable.
She really didn't have much a name, except the phrase my father so lovingly coined - The Yellow Piece of Junk. (Not quite the Yellow Rose of Texas, but it's close.) On her good days she was called Yellow Belly, but alas - those were few and far in between.
On Aug 12, 2002 - the day I began my first job in the "Real World" - we traded her in for $500 sight unseen and were thrilled to get that. At that point she had aged well past her prime.
So here's to her - may she be happily driving along the roads of Waco today and may she always be loved.
On a side note - the photos you see here are of a 1989 Yellow Dodge Shadow pulled from the internet. While very close to her appearance - it's not identical. So sorry to disappoint.

Oh my goodness,
I can't believe that I had forgotten about the dodge, I think we went to some Players events in that car...good times....
