Non-children, please

After spending way too much time on planes this Memorial Day weekend, I've got a suggestion for the airline companies. How about creating a special seating section for those with children?

It'd be just like asking for non-smoking or smoking preference when going to a restaurant.

"During your flying today, would you like to sit in the children or non-children section?"

This way, those who love kids or have kids can sit near one another and share in their joy and love of children. And those of us who like kids but might not have kids can have the option of surround ourselves with them or not. Plus, those who really don't like kids can steer clear of them all together.

Please note - I do not hate kids - I like them well enough when they're not screaming their heads off in my ear or kicking the back of my already uncomfortable chair. Flying is stressful enough and when I'm on a plane trying to read or catch a quick nap, I rather not be seated next to an obnoxious child.

Now, not all kids are obnoxious - some are very well behaved - but don't you think they'd rather be sitting around people who are friendly and even possibly another kid over someone who is rolling their eyes at them and being rude towards them?

Again, it's not like I'm asking them to be banished to cargo or something nuts, just create an option for people who rather not be surrounded by children for the time being. Wouldn't that make it nicer for everyone?

Amen Sista! There should also be a policy in churches to force parents to take their screaming brats out of church services- I don't care if YOU'VE learned to tune out your precious angel's noise- the rest of us are trying to HEAR a sermon and it's a bit tough when junior is squealing and making faces at everyone over your shoulder. He's not going to die in the nursery!!

Having just gotten back from Alaska, I hereby second this comment. We also had some guy puke behind us. Maybe there could be a puker section too.

One tip for everyone. Go to www.seatguru.com before you finalize your seats (although you can always change them at check-in). I was able to get us the exit row both way because I knew which seat to ask for.
