Rubbing Elbows

Okay, so I'm guessing almost 100% of my loyal readers aren't life-long devoted PBS viewers. Well, maybe those with kids watching Barney and Sesame Street (hi mom!) - but I mean watching PBS as an adult, watching adult shows.

But on the outside chance someone out there does, you MIGHT know this face next to mine (as a reminder to those who haven't seen me in awhile, I'm the cute one on the left).

That's celebrity chef John Shields of the PBS series Coastal Cooking. He's a Maryland native and has worked across the country cooking up dishes with a coastal flair and especially dishes with a Chesapeake Bay flavor.

He came out to our lovely Homearama to whip up some delights for show guests one day last week. I had the "job" of going out and taking photos and be an extra set of hands if they needed me. It was quite fun and I think most people walked away happy.

He was cooking up some Mudd Cake and a Curried Crab Dip for those who were wondering. I've got the recipes should you want/need them.

And yes, people actually came out just to see this guy. He was signing books and autographs left and right! Who knew there were celebrities on PBS other that Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch and Mr. Rodgers?

So, that was me hob-knobing it with a quasi-celebrity. Fun fun.
