More Doozer dust pie
"Dance your cares away,
Worry's for another day.
Let the music play,
Down at Fraggle Rock.
"Work your cares away,
Dancing's for another day.
Let the Fraggles play,
We're Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, Red.
"Dance your cares away,
Worry's for another day.
Let the music play,
Down at Fraggle Rock.
Down at Fraggle Rock."
Today my cares are being danced away. I’m tired of work and I’m ready for a weekend. And in the spirit of Saturday morning cartoons – today we learn about FRAGGLES!!!
For those who don’t remember – Fraggles and Doozers live down in Fraggle world. Outer Space is the human world and there’s all sorts of oddities in both.
Your main Fraggles are Red, Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, and Uncle Matt. Doozers are the miniture builders with hardhats. Doc and Sprocket live in Outer Space and the Gorgs live close by too.
Fraggles want to have fun, Gorgs want to catch Fraggles, Outer Space is scary and wisdom is sought from a Trash Heap. Fraggles eat Doozer dust pies and enjoy picnics without Gorgs.
Red was always one of my favorite Fraggles. She is the kind of Fraggle someone watches and then says, "Now there's a really amazing Fraggle who knows where she's going and what she wants to do." And then, BOOM, she runs right into a rock. But that doesn't stop her. She’s a great friend and loves to swim. She even does the Triple Sideways Over Under Back Twist, her best dive, without holding her nose.
Wembley Fraggle was never good at deciding. In fact, "to wemble" is a useful Fragglish word meaning "to go back and forth from one thing to another without deciding on anything." Wembley usually is wembling about whether to stand or lie down or look right or left or straight ahead. In the morning, he wembles about which shirt to wear though he only has two and they're both exactly alike.
Part of the reason Wembley has such a hard time making decisions is that he is genuinely eager to please. So he doesn't like to disagree or decide something which might make someone unhappy - especially if that someone is Red, Mokey, Boober, or Gobo, Wembley's best friends. Otherwise he's a cheerful, agreeable, easy-going Fraggle.
Boober’s a cool Fraggle, albeit a wee bit clumsy and superstitious. Boober is almost always worried about something or if not worried, then frightened or depressed. He believes that he should know as much as possible about everything in order to know all the things there were to worry about. So Boober knows a lot of things that most Fraggles don't know (or care) about, such as "A knot in the tail can bring good luck" and "Stale puddle water can cure the most stubborn bruises."
Another favorite character (not a Fraggle) is Sprocket. Sprocket is a fun loving dog who thinks its fun to chase Gobo (head Fraggle) around the room when Gobo goes to get the mail from Uncle Matt (the traveling Fraggle). Sprocket never hurts Gobo, as Fraggles are fast. But looking at him now, he looks a lot like Baylee.
Uncle Matt’s a fun guy. He left Fraggle Rock to explore Outer Space. It took him no time at all to make his first discovery - the world "out there" is inhibited primarily by “Silly Creatures” - multi-sized, two legged beings with bizarre habits.
For instance, according to Uncle Matt, by holding an upside-down bowl on a stick, these Silly Creatures can make water pour from the sky. Also, they entertain themselves by watching flat Silly Creatures who live inside a box; they feed round, shiny objects to the Pavement Creatures who are rooted to the ground; and they unquestioningly obey the magic Beast with Three Eyes, one red, one yellow and one green.
So now you know a little more about Fraggles – learn some of the great Fraggle wisdom:
If a cross-eyed worm looks at you, wear your lunch and eat your shoes.
When you see spiders on a rock wall, count them: One's a letter, Two's a wish, Three's a fortune, Four's a fish.
Flower pots are lucky. So are walking sticks, yo-yo's, blankets and orange socks.
It's good luck to hear a Hufty-tufty before it hears you.
If you hold your elbow and tickle your foot, you will never meet a three-headed Flerk with rust-colored spots.
If you find a flat pebble, throw it in the air and you will have all the pebbles you want for the rest of the day.
So there – there’s some wisdom to share with your loved ones.
And remember “Oh I'm going to see Boober, he's going to see, oh won't that be fun oh squeetily squat skwee. Oh Boober's my buddy, and Boober's my pal. Oh won't that be fuddy oh squeetily squat skee!” ~Wembley
