A beauty

It is not growing like a tree
in bulk doth make man better be;
Or standing long an oak, three hundred year,
To fall a log at last, dry, bald, and sere,
A lily of a day
is fairer in May
Although it fall and die that night,
It was the plant of flower and light,
In small proportions we just beauties see;
And in short measures, life may perfect be.
~Benjamin Johnson, 17th century English actor

These past few days have seen the lillies bloom in our flower beds. Lillies are always so enjoyable, but last so little time.

Here's a couple of photos of some of them. The detail is great to see up close, but I'm pretty sure that loading them to the internet compresses them and makes them pretty flat. Sorry.

And while these aren't lillies, these are my flowers from our six-year anniversary June 8. Not only were they gorgeous, but they were waiting at our table for us at dinner when we went out AND had all six of my cards placed perfectly throughout. (Six - one for each year.) Ladies, it's okay to be jealous - I know he's wonderful and I appreciate him and love him like no one else could. ::: Love ya, snug.:::

"When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. "
