Blog tidbits

Stole these excerpts from Mental_Floss:

So apparently if you Google the phrase "the average blogger," here’s a few things that come up:

  • According to Google, "the average blog is read by one person."

  • "The average blogger is a 14-year-old girl writing about her cat," said Alexander Halavais, an assistant professor of interactive communications at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

  • The average blogger "makes about $20 to $50 a month for their efforts," mostly funded by click-through advertising like Google AdSense.

  • The average blog "has the lifespan of a fruitfly … with 60% to 80% abandoned within one month." Of those that survive, "66% have not been updated in two months."

So, once again, it looks like I'm above average - in age, readers and lifespan. That's always a plus, I guess.

And while I may blog about the cat from time to time, I usually speak of the dogs.

And as far as not being updated - I've never made you wait two months for an update. Now that sister of mine is a different story...

However, I'm not making one cent off my blog. So I was thinking of starting a donation link should you want to contribute to the fund. Anyone?
